.

Title: Book Sweeter Than Birdsong
Publisher: Thomas Nelson
Author: Rosslyn Elliott

First of all, my deepest appreciation to author- Rosslyn Elliott , publisher- Thomas Nelson and Booksneeze for this remarkably inspiring read! Thank you!

Book description:
This historical story started before civil war. Kate Winter was a petite, extremely shy and soft spoken young lady. In order to complete her degree in Otterbein College of Westerville, she required to pass her oration, and she screwed it! Anyway, she was given a second chance, so in order to overcome her fear to speak in public setting, she went for the audition in Ben Hanby(Otterbein's musical genius) musicale(as per forced by her highly demanding mom). Her voice was pure and admirably, and Ben had fell in love with her, so did his best friend Jone Frederick. Apparently, Kate'd got herself into a love triangle.

In the other hand, Kate had bored of being her mom's personal marionette(puppet). All this while she has planned her escape from home, but God has his own plan, ironically she ended up helping others to their escapes...!

Comments:
I truly enjoy this novel, it's melodiously written and utterly heart warming! I love Kate, and admire her courageous and kindness for the fugitives. While Ben captures my heart for his devotion for the abolition of slavery, the almighty God and his true love, Kate(how sweet~!). I was thrilled when I discovered the characters were truly exist in the past, but was devastated when learned that Ben actually passed away at the age of 33, and Kate has became a widow since then, how sad...

I certainly will recommend this book to all my book lover friends, it's a keeper! I rated this book 5 out of 5 stars!

I didn't really like the first half of the story. I was rather pissed off by Devon's insensitivity, ignorant and selfishness. However the story getting dramatically interesting towards the end. I couldn't love more when Ashley finally confided to his husband:

"I can't be someone I'm not even if it meant you'd eventually love the new me. It would be someone I made up and all the while the real Ashley would be standing there, unloved"- Ashley Copeland

I rated this book 3.5 stars out of 5 stars. It might bored me at first but love the ending!

Even though she had discovered the truth later, she didn't give up on their marriage. The Planet of Junior Brown by Virginia Hamilton

I reckon this is probably the type of literature that I instantaneously get bored with it, however gradually grow to like it! Frankly, if you asked me what do I think about this book, I would reckon the title should named The Planet of Buddy Clark or perhaps Tomorrow Billy instead of Junior Brown.
Well, because the stories were mostly revolving around Junior's best friend, Buddy Clark(And I actually enjoy reading Buddy's part than Junior's). Buddy was tough, brave and street smart(a profoundly survival) while Junior was a typical mama's boy, though at time he can be really calm and helpful, especially when his maw(mom) under asthma attack.

I rated this book 2.5 stars out of 5, probably because the 1st half of the book kept me dragging, the pace was rather slow.

Description:

The story is about two black American boys , Buddy Clark a.k.a Tomorrow Billy and Junior Brown. Both the 8ve graders were gifted. Buddy the street boy was a prodigy in Math and Science while Junior the 300kg fat, skittish and awful looking boy was talented in playing piano. Despite their high academic achievement at school, they tend to break the Compulsory Education Law, and played hookies with the school Janitor, Mr Pool(an ex teacher). They hid in the basement room of the school, building their friendship and trusts.

Although Junior came from a well- to- do family, he had very low self-esteem and constantly under depression(to the extend he started to hallucinate the thing...). His mom was a self- centered, sickly woman, who despised his friendship with his best friend Buddy. Whilst his dad was always away and seldom came home for them.

Buddy in the other hand, was a independent homeless boy. A boy who couldn't open up to anyone, not even his friends. He was working at a newsstand, earning meager money and building shelters for other homeless black kids(like Franklin the little thief and Nightman the poor hungry boy). Imagine open a new bottle of water was a ritual that cheer the boys, and owing a pillow is like a dream come true!

Together the boys create their future with believes and dreams...

Pub Date: December 13, 2011
ISBN: 9781937776237
Author:        Cara Lockwood

This is the fourth book of Bard Academy series. I was not a fan for classic, but after finished this book, I am so tempted to pick up some of the titles, especially A Tale of Two Cities and Wuthering Height! Thus, kudos to author for bringing the classic characters to life in this series!

The story is generally filled with suspense(though its plots were quite predictable) and adventures(after the 1st 100pgs). I personally enjoy banters between Blade and Semir, or so called the goth and nerd couple. I was a little touched by the ending, especially after Miranda knew Headmaster B and the other ghostly teachers destroyed the vault and sacrificed themselves to keep the balance of the world. However, I still love the happy ending!

Will I recommend this book to my friends? Of course I already did. I rated this book 3 out of 5 stars.

Description:
Three years ago, after Chicago girl Miranda Tate wrecked his dad's BMW, and spent a fortune with her mom's credit card, she was expelled(by her own dad) to Bard Academy of the creepy Shipwreck Island. The school was haunted with ghostly faculty and teachers, consists of famous writers from the past century.Underneath the school library, there's a vault with magical classic novels, in which when the passages were read, a portal between 2 dimensions will be created, and the fictional characters will be able to travel into the reality world.

At new school, Miranda has found her true love- Heathcliff, a fictional character from Wuthering Height. After the past 3 years of near death adventures with Heathcliff (and her friends), he has proposed to her, but she was ambivalent about marrying him and setting up house in a cabin on a haunted island. While Miranda was antsy with Heathcliff's proposal, Heathcliff's ex-girl friend mysteriously showed up, and it seems Heathcliff still held a torch for his ex. At the same time, Miranda's dad had an serious heart attack. Both Miranda and her sister were summoned back to Chicago... while their dad's condition improved, strangest thing happened to Bard Academy, the entire school vanished, *poof !!-
disappeared......
